Unicorn Valley Equestrian Centre
EQUINE ASSISTED LEARNING CLINICS (EAL)
Our Equine-Assisted Learning (EAL) clinics provide both children and adults the opportunity to build safe relationships with horses while working on personal development, social, emotional and relationship building skills.
A proud history
"I'm passionate about working with people to build that connection between horse and rider. Seeing how our riders progress gives me great satisfaction", Andrea Hegmann
Unicorn Valley was established in 1998 by Andrea Hegmann with only a handful of ponies (Eden, Chocko, LeeRoy, Sunny, Sam) and a small manage. Andrea initially provided instruction to just five children but over time, as her students kept growing (taller), she had to support their long legs with bigger horses.
Only promoting the school through word of mouth, the business continued to grow rapidly and so did the improvements to the riding school. These included lighting for the outdoor manege, hot water wash bay, indoor stable, yards, fencing posts and even a cross country course!
The development of the riding school facilities has enabled students to further their riding skills and also provided scope to further their understanding of horsemanship and the basic skills required to care for a horse; skills such as catching the horse in its paddock, saddling and bridling, floating, feeding, rugging and basic first aid are all part of the experience.
Unicorn Valley has students successfully representing the school in Pony Clubs and Interschool events, whilst also running its own in-house competitions in the last couple of years.
